Parent/Baby Play Time?

How Much Time Should Parents Spend Actively Playing With Their Baby?

One of the most commonly asked questions that new parents have is just how much time they should spend playing with their baby? There is no question that actively playing with babies is a vital step in helping your child develop and grow, but is there such a thing as the “right” amount of time to spend playing? And if so, what does playing with your baby actually involve?

The reality is that there is no set answer or guide that can definitively tell you how long you should spend playing with your baby. Often, it depends on the attention span of the child and their willingness to entertain themselves away from your immediate constant affection. However, the best way of judging how much time to spend actively playing can generally be deduced from following your baby's lead. They will let you know when they are ready to play.

In the first couple of months, you will find that your baby has no attention span for or interest in play. A young baby's days are generally spent eating, cuddling and sleeping. However, as they get on in months, you will find that their attention span and independence grows at an alarming rate. This is when you should introduce playtime with your child.

Initially, playing with your baby will involve nothing more than talking and interacting with them. Babies are always fascinated by their parents and will respond to any kind of conversation or interactions with them. As they become more responsive with their actions, you can introduce simple toys like stuffed toys or rattles. Different toys teach children different lessons about their own body, and it is important to introduce them to a varied selection of sensory toys for them to learn.

The important thing throughout is to pay attention to your baby. If they appear uninterested or tired, do not force play time upon them simply because you feel they haven't played enough that day. When a baby is open to play, it will be obvious. It will be equally, if not more so, obvious when they have no interest in play!

By paying attention to their moods prior to and during play, you can quickly learn the signs of whether they wish to play or not. Similarly, you should allow them to play in whatever way they want to. If they want to play with soft blocks, then play with soft blocks. If they want to have a conversation, have a conversation. Play time with parents is just as important as independent play time, so always be on the lookout for any opportunities where your baby can have your undivided attention.

Doc McStuffins Hospital Care Cart Toy Review

The Doc McStuffins Hospital Care Cart is on Walmart's Hottest 25 Toys list for 2016. Kids love the idea of helping their stuffed animals get well again when they're sick.

It's a toy that's educational as well as a kid favorite thanks to the beloved Doc McStuffins character. The cart is a fun, on-the-go toy that's designed with a lot of eye-catching colors.

The little wheels that look like flowers can roll smoothly over surfaces as your child makes her rounds from room to room to be able to visit her toy patients. The cart is packed with the various items that kids can use their imagination with to take care of any of their injured or sick toys.

They love the thought of being able to emulate Doc from the show airing on Disney Junior. They can line up the toys and have their patients waiting to be seen. During the exam or treatment time, kids can put the toys in the middle of the cart – much like a table at the doctor's office – to find out what's wrong with the patient.

Whether the toy is sick or just in for a checkup, the cart contains everything your child will need to help out. The cart has a light that enables kids to check out their toys and it also has a scanner.

Kids will love using the X-ray to see what's wrong with their patients. The X-ray comes with cards that show the characters on the Disney Junior show. When checking out the patient's heart with the EKG, the cart can enable kids to see the patient's heart patterns.

The heart rhythm tool is on a roller at the front of the cart for easy kid access. There's also a blood pressure pump so kids can check out how their patient is doing. A familiar tune that kids hear on the show "Welcome to the Hospital" song can play and there are various buttons as well as things that can make sounds like in a real doctor's office.

The cart holds all of the medical tools neatly in the drawer so when kids need to rush off to treat the next patient, all they have to do is load it up and go. The hospital care cart does have one toy (Findo is the little dog) that comes with it so that kids can get started right away treating him.

Two minor complaints are most of the pictures, include Lamby and the doctors bag but they are not included. If you are sensitive to noise be aware there is no volume control.

The cart not only encourages kids to use their imagination, but teaches them to be kind and caring.
The suggested age range for this toy is 3-6 years.
